In The Multitude of Words – Isaac Kilibwa
(Proverbs 10:19)
Iniquity abounds, the love of most
Is frozen in lean lands long weaned of bliss,
And even then a spirit trapped in frost
Is melted in the promise of a kiss.
Untrue, the halsen of an accent caught
In the beguiling thought of what will be!
False, the whispers at a grand gossip’s court
A multitude of words is not bought free!
Wily, unwilling wills are wont to bend
To tongues bathed in the cream of flattery,
The mouth doeth mould darts daunt, defying fend,
Clubs to clobber in callous battery.
Words are a feud covered by thin skin,
In their multitude there wanteth not sin.
