Daymares at Midnight – Mukonya Mukonya

Frets; it’s approaching fast

Sweats; she thinks she is cursed

Hates the advent of dusk.

She knows she’s insomniac

He’ll still come; the maniac

One goal – her blood to suck.

It’s midnight; feels weary

Tonight she’s so wary

Still turns off the lighting.

It’s dark, her mind goes blank

Dogs bark, she hears a clank

Silence! He’s here with her!

  1. Insomnia, psychosis or a case of sexual assaults? The helplessness of a person in the face of unavoidable danger? Hmmmm, very good poem Mukonya, the use of start and end rhymes in the AAB system is quite interesting.
