Take a look at how these millionaire winners from Lipa na Mpesa Safaricom Promotions or from lotteries such as Cheza Lotto are usually informed that they are the winners. Or even just listen in keenly on how Shaffie and Adelle (while still in KissFM), Jalango or even MCA Tricky get to ‘patanisha’ people, hooking people and even at times settling people’s differences and issues in the radio. All these are usually done through only one way. And do you know what way it is? It is simply through phone calls. Phone calls are usually made to radio presenters and most definitely, these people never anticipate or know the exact time they would be called or even the exact phone number that they would be called with.
Anonymous phone calls. These are calls from unidentified phone numbers of either unknown people or people whose names have not been saved in the contact list, literally. Basically, these are phone calls from unidentified phone numbers that you take time, or you hesitate or you have second thoughts before picking them up. We do know of these calls, right? I am certain that most of us have encountered them.
Take the following instances in mind.
Instance 1
You have had a very silly break up with your girlfriend or boyfriend over a misunderstanding that you would like to clear things up and settle things straight and so you decide to call the person. But as expected, your calls aren’t being picked up because you’ve been blocked, spammed or being intentionally snubbed and so, what do you do? You decide to wait for these sizzling hot breakfast shows that have these segments of patanisho or getting back people together so that you may use this platform to clear the misunderstanding by calling your partner so that you may talk things over.
Instance 2
You are to meet up with someone in a place that’s totally new to the two of you. Since the place is unknown to you guys, you obviously will call or text each other so that you may inform each other where exactly you are concerning the location you are to meet. In so doing the endless texting and calling each other, unfortunately, it happens that one of your cellphones either runs out of airtime, or the phone battery runs low hence the phone switches off! What will you now do because you still need to communicate to reach your destination? The only option that remains is borrowing someone else’s phone so that you can continue communicating! Right?
The instances are quite many that I can’t jot them all down. With the two instances above, take it that the persons being called or being texted with these anonymous phone numbers do not pick up the calls or reply to the messages. Simply because the phone numbers are new to them! Will they get the intended messages? Will they? Sadly, they won’t!
But one may ask, “Since you are in the opinion that we should not dismiss calls from these anonymous phone numbers, how can we gain the confidence of picking up these calls and replying to these messages for we at times fear as we do not know the person we are talking to?”
Personally, when receiving either a call or text, I usually use recognition Apps to identify the name of these people. And truly, the phone application has helped me a great deal because most of the time, I usually find out that these anonymous phone numbers are of people that I know of. But yet again, what is the big deal? Be courageous enough and pick up that phone call. You don’t have to sweat through this Apps. Go ahead and speak to that person. The caller will most definitely identify him/herself as most of them do so.
So folks, let’s not ignore calls from anonymous phone numbers. Who knows! It can be a hookup, a reunion call with your longtime lost bestie or it can be that all-time crush of yours whom you’ve dreamed to speak to but you’ve never had the guts to.
